The Traditional Arts and Crafts of Barcelos were the great inspiration for this project, with the aim of preserving, in an innovative and original way, our heritage.
Firstly, the Rooster of Barcelos, a national symbol, but it's “ours”, represented on the two largest sides of the box, accompanied by the name of the city. Also associated with the Rooster, on the right side of the box we can find Santiago de Compostela welcoming the pilgrims in Barcelos, and wishing them a Happy Journey! On the left side, a reference to the Barcelos figure, with the drawing of a Minho woman and a musician from Banda Plástica.
At the top of the box we find plates inspired by traditional Barcelos pottery, which crown the tablecloth with embroidery, the ends of which fall towards the front. Finally, the colors, blue and white, are inspired by a characteristic of Barcelos: the tiles.

In The BOX is project organised by Casa da Juventude. The aim is to “involve young people in the creation of new projects that enhance their appreciation and capabilities”.
