Fernando Morgado

Crafts and pottery in Barcelos represent a landmark in the city of Barcelos, so this art and craft had to be highlighted, and nothing better than the delicate and most significant pieces that best represent our city and its history of uniform colours. Fernando Morgado was a ceramicist/barrista who expressed himself through the use of tones from nature, which was quite diverse. All of his work was done by hand, burned and painted by hand. And how does clay feel, this man who spent his life involved in pottery? Simple answer from Fernando Morgado:

“Look, we were born from clay and we will certainly die in clay!” (“Olhe, nós nascemos do barro e, com certeza, morreremos no barro!”)

In The BOX is project organised by Casa da Juventude. The aim is to “involve young people in the creation of new projects that enhance their appreciation and capabilities”.
