The inspiration for this painting came from the traditional flower paintings on the Barcelos ceramic. These paintings represent a rich artisanal tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation.
With few colours and simplified patterns, these pieces are charming due to their delicate representation of flowers, representing a more rural character of art. You can see this type of painting on everyday utensils, such as plates, bowls, and jugs, which today serve mainly as decorative objects but have not lost their function. This art enriches the history and culture of the Barcelos region.

In The BOX is project organised by Casa da Juventude. The aim is to “involve young people in the creation of new projects that enhance their appreciation and capabilities”.
