Saturated colours, realistic elements, abstract representations and a theme related to friendship make up this large-format mural, approximately 12 metres high by 5 metres wide, located at the IES Luis Carillo de Sotomayor in Baena (Córdoba), a work that joins the murals already existing in the town that make up the Urban Art Route of the City of Baena .
The project arises from the artistic and friendship relationship that Sake , born in Baena, and Sota Pérez , from Huelva but based in Córdoba, have had for a decade, and that both wanted to materialize in a joint work, which would show the two styles of both artists, in a balanced, natural way, within the language of contemporary urban art.
After several ideas, considering a youth theme and approaches to education or human values, different proposals emerged, which after being shared, and taking into account the format in which it was going to be worked, were discarded, giving way to the idea that was finally realized, an idea that involved the concept of friendship materialized in a design that showed that value, in a clear and original way. The main design is based on two hands intertwined, specifically the hands of the two artists who created the mural, accompanied by abstract elements in the background.
This proposal was adapted to the space to be worked on, and it matched very well with the two styles of the artists, highlighting aspects that are often overlooked due to the great competitiveness that exists today. Collaborations between urban artists are not very common, since it is difficult to fit two styles into a given space and following a common theme that unites styles and ideas.
