Inclusion

The mural addresses the issue related to the social integration of the Roma community, the second-largest group of minorities, according to the census conducted by the Romanian authorities in 2012. Unfortunately, they are also the most discriminated against, due to their traditions and to a fundamentally different lifestyle. The artwork highlights the necessity of educating our children in the spirit of acceptance, letting them know, understand and accept different ethnic groups, traditions, and customs.

The painting aims at creating a bridge between the traditions of these groups (clothing, music) and the idea that their survival and their endurance are strongly tied to the fact that these customs need to be passed on to the younger generations. It's all about preserving cultures, while also contributing to the education of the larger public, building awareness and a stronger, more compassionate understanding of their specificities. The mural spans across 150 square meters and was created for the most part with air-purifying paint.
