1300 years Assenede

A total of eight artists collaborated on this impressive artwork. This 30-meter-long wall features several beautiful works of art. No fewer than seven of these eight artists also worked on another façade in Assenede. We thought it would be a great idea to bring them together for a collaborative piece. From left to right: Steppe came up with a design that focuses on cultural diversity, a topic close to Assenede's heart. This beautiful, photorealistic portrait is a real eye-catcher on the façade. Note the reflection in the sunglasses! Next up is the cheerful duo Loves & Plur. They once again chose nature as their theme. Besides a beautiful landscape, you can also find a phoenix. This mythical creature is constantly reborn from its own ashes. Ashes and "being born" in French. Voila: Assenede! The third design comes from GraphT. This is the only artist who didn't create their own mural in Assenede. He wanted to highlight the name of our beautiful municipality. He sees this as a tribute to our municipality. The name is set against a background of cobblestones, a nod to the nickname of our residents. Number 4 was designed by Jesse Van Gompel. Jesse opted for a landscape scene captured in a lamp. Jamz Jamezon provided the facade with a beautiful portrait, complemented by some futuristic elements.
With this, the artist casts a glance into the future and shows what the residents of Assenede might look like in the future. Artistic: The penultimate piece in the series is an artwork by Foreal. He created a design that merges history and the future. Es and Ede occupy prominent places. The tree and the stream that are said to be the origin of our municipality's name have been given a futuristic look. It could easily be a postcard of the Assenede of the future. Finally, we find the brushstrokes of Peter Audenaert. He chose to feature Jan De Belleman on this wall. Our town crier will have been in service for exactly 25 years in 2024. An ideal opportunity to put him in the spotlight.
