O guarda do Vez

For MurArcos 2023 Regg Salgado made a mural on the wall of the house the river keeper lived in. A local beloved man who’s peculiar stories made me imagine him as a surreal figure inhabiting the river Vez.
Logs and debris were collected to avoid floods and rocks were heated in the sun to warm its waters. He painted a calm river with greenish hues and the man whose mind is blazing red. The river bed actually references the max height an actual flood reached. Crazy.

MurArcos is an Urban Art Festival in Arcos de Valdevez organised by Regg Salgado, Mariana Duarte Santos and Daniela Guerreiro.
