VSM

This mural captures the energy and nostalgia of the VSM steam railway. The artwork shows a cheerful train driver leaning from a classic locomotive, echoing the excitement of the historic steam trains that still run through the Veluwe today.

The VSM operates on the Apeldoorn–Dieren line, stopping at Beekbergen, Loenen, Eerbeek and the small Immenbergweg halt, used mainly by guests of nearby holiday parks. The route runs between the forests of the Veluwe and the open IJssel Valley, offering a varied and scenic landscape.

Built in 1887 and about 22 km long, this section once formed part of the “King Willem III line.” It served both passengers and freight (especially wood and paper) until passenger service ended in 1947 and freight in 1984. Since 1975, the VSM has preserved the line as a museum railway; since 2004 it officially owns the track.

The mural celebrates this rich history by bringing the iconic steam train and its character to life in a bold, playful style.
