Girl with the pearl, J.Vermeer

‘The girl with the pearl earring’ is a famous painting from the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. A neighbourhood resident initiated the idea for a 17th century painting on this wall. He asked street artist Roelof Schierbeek to do this and Roelof presented 3 designs to the neighbourhood to choose from. The neighborhood selected the design for The girl with the pearl earring.

The painting from Vermeer was exhibited in Amsterdam only temporarily but with this 117 sqm large mural, it feels like the girl with the pearl earring is still in Amsterdam.
