1992 is a year that is not forgotten. Year of massacres, of heroes who immolate themselves to fight the mafia.
Yet, among the historically exceptional events, there is one that is too little talked about: on July 31, 1992, the first Italian astronaut flies into space. Franco Malerba, with the STS-46 mission, has the privilege of watching "the boot" with emotion and sweetness thousands and thousands of kilometres away. He was a man of just over 30 years old when he read from a newspaper clipping that scientists and engineers were being sought for the first flight of the Spacelab, which will take place, however, only 14 years later.
30 years have passed since that mission and today it is precisely the boys born in 1992, in this land that observes the stars and represents them within its walls, who choose to pay homage to this man who made the tricolour stand out in the sky and who embodied trust in science, the courage to dare, the curiosity that leads to knowledge.
In the mural "Tethered 1992" all this and much more is condensed: there is the awareness of the importance of collaboration, the unconditional love for art, there are the hopes of a generation that between a thousand difficulties does not want to give up dreaming.
The guys took care of the ideation, development and realisation of the work, but it would have been impossible without the generosity of Peppino (Giuseppe Mancini alias Pezarella), an 89-year-old from Allese who made the wall of his garage available.
The mural was made by Federico Stecconi.
A Roman artist who takes his first steps in the world of painting, starting to exhibit first in underground clubs in the centre of Rome, then in various personal and collective exhibitions and exhibitions, around Italy.
Among the various artistic disciplines touched there are tattoos, body painting, and finally Murals, in which he tries to expose to the public his stylistic and technical idea of a constantly evolving colourful world. ( source cit. Borgouniverso on fb)
