The Alien Saturn

Originally painted in 1984 by Ruff and O'Brien, the artwork originally depicted an old man watching a child riding a bicycle, with a texture of the endless ocean and clouds above. Refreshed in 1998, the Adelaide City Council and Rundle Street Traders commissioned Armstrong, who then invited many other artists to build on the theme, as well as adding futuristic elements on the existing artwork such as an alien, trains around Saturn's rings, and a flying alien head. The road which stands between the old man and the child represents the journey of growth and the connections between the varying generations.
