<div><a href="https://www.treepack.net/projects"><strong>Treepack </strong></a>and Huis van de Tolerantie (Leuven) created a participative project to create a nicer neighborhood near the Brusselsestreet. They invited artist Tuch who together with two locals from Leuven (Lotte Falter/Warsnoes and Filip Donvil) painted this electricity cabin. The theme was 'nature', and they created the lungs of life that are hanging from a tree. <br><br>This mural is painted with Airlite - a 100% organic paint that reduces NO2 and CO2 in the air through nanotechnology. <br><br>This project is part of a larger whole. In the near future the tunnel going under the Leuvense Ringroad will also be painted. <div><strong>NEDERLANDS</strong> - Een van de leerkrachten contacteerde graffiti artist Jonas Tuch nadat ze hem aan het werk had gezien in Mechelen. “In de Blauwehondstraat was ik aan een gelijkaardig werk bezig. Dat sprak haar aan en ik gaf een kaartje mee. Een tijdje geleden kreeg ik dan de vraag om een werk op de schoolmuur te maken”, vertelt kunstenaar Jonas Tuch (31). “Ik werk met gezichtscontouren, maar in plaats van ogen en neuzen te schilderen geef ik een scène weer in het gezicht. Voor dit werk haalde ik de inspiratie uit de visietekst van de school. Samenwerken, doelen bereiken, ontwikkelen en ontdekken zijn enkele van de thema’s.”<br><br><strong>ENGLISH </strong>- One of the teachers contacted graffiti artist Jonas Tuch after seeing him at work in Mechelen. "I was working on a similar project in the Blauwehondstraat. That appealed to her and I gave her my businesscard. A while ago, I was asked to make a work on the school wall," explains artist Jonas Tuch (31). "I work with facial contours, but instead of painting eyes and noses, I depict a scene in the face. For this work I took the inspiration from the school's vision text. Working together, achieving goals, developing and discovering are some of the themes."</div>

<div>The artist asked some of the residents about their history is, and how they ended up in Antwerp-Luchtbal. Also possible is the story of their ancestors who came to Belgium. This can be depicted in a portrait, the story of which is made visible within the contours of the face.</div>

<div>Tuch chose to illustrate a personal story with this artwork. He covered the entire surface of the electricity box with brain cells. Long strands of neurons seek each other out and make connections. From afar, everything seems normal, but move closer and a different story emerges. Small cracks in the neurons are filled with gold. The cracks represent the damaging effects Tuch experienced from when he fell into a coma. The filling of gold comes from the Japanese art of kintsugi, in which broken objects are repaired with gold; it is believed that the cracks make the object more beautiful. In the same way, Tuch believes that he is better off now, and that his experience is part of a new perspective on life.</div>
