Smoka is a French muralist and visual artist based in Nantes, France. He discovered graffiti in the 1990s and painted his first murals in 1998, developing a practice rooted in lettering, graphic design and large-scale painting. A self-taught artist with a background in graphic design, Smoka joined the 100 Pression collective in Nantes in 2006. Over the years, he has taken part in numerous mural projects, exhibitions and street art festivals across France and Europe. His work combines figurative painting, bold typography, geometric patterns and vibrant colour palettes. Portraits and human figures interact with abstract shapes, textures and graphic elements, creating compositions that move between realism and abstraction. His murals often explore themes connected to human relationships, society, nature and our place in the world, while adapting to the architecture and identity of each location. From public spaces and urban landscapes to cultural venues and sports environments, Smoka develops site-specific artworks designed to create a strong visual dialogue with their surroundings. His recent projects include murals in Prague, Nantes, Lorient and other cities across Europe.
