The artist FREIWILLIG comes from Essen and his roots lie in traditional graffiti. He experiments in public spaces with simple red/white barrier tape. The German word "Freiwillig" translates to "Volunteer" or "Voluntarily" in English. He is known for using red-and-white barrier tape (caution/flatter tape) instead of spray paint and wrapping structures in barrier tape, to temporarily claim public spaces to create a visual "standstill" or alter the area's atmosphere.
